2015 was another busy year!  Here’s how it went:

  • Continued on his powerlifting record-setting tear, breaking 14 world powerlifting records in three national/world meets, raising his powerlifting world record total to 97, and winning his seventh Junior Olympic Games and seventh world powerlifting titles.   • Varsity springboard diver:  Continued with a strong varsity diving season, finishing as an AIA Division II state finalist for the second year in a row (6th in the state), 5th at the Brophy Invitational and 2nd at the PCDS Invitational with a season-high 378 11-dive meet.
  • Strongman props:  Won Best Youth Athlete award for the second year in a row and set eight FOS world records while winning the AAU World Indoor Feats of Strength Championships in Las Vegas
  • Athletic prowess:  Won the AAU JO Games All-sports combine for the third year in a row, becoming the only three-time national combine winner
  • Played more than two dozen concerts at Phoenix nursing homes Closing out the year with community service
  • Won the Joe Foss Institute Donna Foss national essay contest Joe Foss National Essay Winner
  • Selected to attend a prestigious STEM program at the University of Southern California Frontiers of Energy Resources STEM Program
  • Elected team captain for the Louisiana-based Jets Barbell National Youth Team
  • Founded the Black, Caribbean and Latino Club at Phoenix Country Day School
  • Finished the year as a high school diving finalist at the Arizona Division II HS state championships
  • Launched a nonprofit fundraising effort to benefit combat-wounded veterans through powerlifting Lift for Heroes
  • Selected as AAU Strength Sports National Athlete of the Year AAU Strength Sports Athlete of the Year
  • Named to the AAU Strength Sports Academic All-American list AAU Academic All-American
  • Played the national anthem for an Arizona Diamondbacks pro baseball game, the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade Kickoff Breakfast, and a presidential political rally
  • Featured in USA Today High School Sports USA Today,  on local television 12 News Connecting Arizona, and was the subject of an ASU Cronkite School documentary Strings to Iron
  • Joined a two-week service trip to India
  • Selected to the Western Region Honors Orchestra
  • Invited to Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory Workshop on the campus of Adams State University in Colorado Mt Blanca Conservatory
  • Picked up his first corporate powerlifting sponsor, Unbreakable Gear

Whew, 2015 was busy!  In 2016, World’s Strongest Violinist Evan Pittman will increase his community violin performances, focus on springboard diving training and competition, amp up his training to break his historic 100th world powerlifting record, and begin the college application process.
