On Saturday night, September 26, Evan Pittman was honored as AAU Strength Sports National Athlete of the Year during the annual AAU Hall of Fame ceremony in Las Vegas.

Evan was cited for his prolific powerlifting record-breaking, having set more than 90 lifetime world records, including more than 20 in the past year alone; winning two world powerlifting titles in 2014; and remaining undefeated in national-level All-Sports Combines and Feats of Strength competitions.  During the past year, he also received the Joel Ferrell Award, the AAU’s highest award given for sports achievement and sportsmanship at the Junior Olympic Games.

Evan was honored as Male Athlete of the Year along side Allie Lazarus, from Shreveport, Louisiana, who was selected as Female Athlete of the Year.  Allie is the reigning AAU Women’s World Weightlifting Champion, and a past world and Junior Olympic Games powerlifting and weightlifting champion.  She is also a high school cheerleader, member of the National Junior Honor Society, and heavily involved in community activities.

The National Athletes of the Year awards were a highlight of the AAU Strength Sports Hall of Fame ceremony at the Rio Hotel, held during the AAU’s annual World Powerlifting, Weightlifting and Feats of Strength championships.
